Publick House & gazebo

The ceremony and reception will both be held at the Publick House Historic Inn. Built in 1771, the Publick House is full of colonial ambiance with plank floors, period antiques, original woodwork, and open hearths. Located on the Sturbridge Common, the Publick House has been a premiere location for historic dining and lodging for centuries.

The ceremony will take place at 10:30am. Weather permitting, it will be outdoors on the sweeping green lawn in front of the gazebo. In the event of rain, it will take place in the beautiful, rustic barn.

The reception will immediately follow the ceremony, beginning at 11am. The cocktail hour will be held in the rustic converted barn, with a 4-course dinner following in Paige Hall. The Publick House is renowned for its wonderful traditional Yankee cooking, and the wedding cake will be baked by the pastry chefs at the 18th-century Bake Shoppe on the premises.

Hotel Information

Some of you are traveling many miles to join us on our big day. For those of you seeking lodging, we have some great options right in the area.

Publick House Country Motor Lodge

We have reserved a room block directly on-site at the Publick House. Rooms are available for 9/5/2009 and 9/6/2009:

  • Room with two double beds at the Country Motor Lodge (19 rooms available both nights) - $99 per night
  • Room with one queen bed at the Publick House Main Inn (3 rooms available both nights) - $129 per night
  • Suite with one king bed and a pullout sofa (queen size) at the Chamberlain House (3 rooms available 9/6) - $179 per night

To book a room, call the Publick House Loding Office at (508) 347-3313, and tell them you would like a room for the Galluzzo-D'Aquila wedding. These are locked-in discounted rates, but the Publick House tells us that standard rates occasionally fluctuate, and if you see a cheaper rate on the Internet or via discounts like AAA, you're more than welcome to book a room outside of the room block.

The Publick House is a timeless historic landmark, and their rooms capture that ambiance. If, however, you prefer a different flavor of lodging, here are other excellent options:

Area Attractions

Late summer is a wonderful time to visit Sturbridge and its neighboring towns, with plenty of attractions to suit every taste. If you're a history buff, Old Sturbridge Village is one of the country's largest living history museums. Are you an out-of-towner who has heard stories of a strange sport called candlepin bowling? Experience it for yourself at Bogey Lanes (also home to an 18-hole mini golf course) in nearby East Brookfield, MA. Do wagon rides and apple picking appeal to you? Then visit the Hyland Orchard and Brewery for fresh fruit, ice cream, and more!
